Dmitri to make role debut as Verdi's Don Carlo, king of Spain, in Met's Ernani

On February 2, Dmitri makes his role debut as Don Carlo in Giuseppe Verdi's Ernani at New York’s Metropolitan Opera. The Siberian baritone’s Ernani performances culminate in a Live in HD cinema broadcast on February 25, when fans from all over the world can watch Dmitri sing live onstage at the Met. In Verdi’s opera, Don Carlo, the king of Spain, must manage the political strife that unsettles his realm. His nobleman Ernani, stripped of wealth and title in civil war, now risks losing his beloved Elvira to her uncle, Don Ruy Gómez de Silva. Determined to win her back, Ernani pursues a daring rescue, putting himself, de Silva, and Don Carlo the king in a dangerous game of risk and honor.
